I know that challenges and barriers stop entrepreneurs in their tracks! It is a scary experience – so I help navigate through those hurdles and restore inspiration. I engage clients in inspiring, goal oriented conversations that keep them on task for planning, acheiving, and accountability.
Let's get started!
Not every business can afford an Operations Manager or have enough work to warrant an onsite employee. I play that role for you on an as needed basis. I provide an analysis of existing operations, evaluate operational costs, identify pain points and set major benchmarks for success that are designed to be measurable, specific and realistic. From this, we create a proposal for adoption with an implementation plan to address findings.
I work with clients to develop customizable policies and procedures manuals, training materials, and program manuals. In my role as a technical writer, I have worked in real estate, residential construction, restaurant, and non-profit sectors to acheive government/corporate contracts and funding. I have successfully delivered the following services:
Challenge: A budding entrepreneur was burnt out from being an employee and had a dream to open a restaurant. When he was unable to obtain financing for a new build, he considered acquiring an established restaurant. He needed assistance in writing a business plan, business valuation, lease negotiation, and vendor procurement.
Solution: Conducted research on the current state of the business to provide him with a comprehensive understanding of the long-term viability of the market for the potential acquisition. A rapid review of the competition and trends within the restaurant industry were conducted, as well as provided deeper insight about the critical issues that would potentially impact the customer base and profitability of this business over the long term.
Result: The client called my consulting work for him “phenomenal” and was “impressed” with my knowledge and accessibility. Based upon the research and information provided him, the entrepreneur successfully acquired the restaurant.
Challenge: A general contractor was struggling financially, had minimal construction projects and lacked general knowledge of business principles. The owner was ready to make a transition from sole-proprietorship to a corporation poised for a new level of success.
Solution: Provided on-going business consulting services for over 5 years to the general contractor. These services included business formation, creating OSHA safety plan, payroll and human capital management, as well as assistance in managing overall operations as the firm grew and evolved.
Result: When the owner began working with me, he was only working on one project at a time. Today, the firm is a multi-million-dollar corporation with projects all over Northern California. The owner says working with me “was a turning point” for him because he finally was able to build a family run business with long-term success.
Challenge: An entrepreneurial real estate developer providing affordable housing, jobs for low skilled workers, and mentorship to sub-contractors wanted to go after a large federally funded Request for Proposal (RFP). The RFP was to help local municipalities partner with developers to rebuild their neighborhoods effected by the housing crisis. The real estate developer needed to figure out how to best capitalize on this opportunity and help position his firm to be awarded a development contract.
Solution: Worked with the real estate developer and his key staff to put together a proposal response identifying partners and opportunities available to communicate their proposed success and ability to bring more than 20 homes back to market. Also helped them develop opportunities to expand their outreach and networking efforts with local workers and vendors.
Results: The real estate developer garnered wide acclaim for his success and enhanced his relationships with key Stakeholders. The real estate developer was able to leverage his award into a higher industry profile and ultimately acquired more distressed properties to return back to market.
Challenge: A group of high achievers wanted to create a training/mentoring program for young adults that seek a career in the entertainment industry. The group had the idea, but needed direction.
Solution: Worked with the group providing a facilitated strategy session and business consulting bringing together the true concept of their idea. Established roles and deliverables for each group member that would encompass the Board of Directors. Led the development of a business plan and pitch sheet.
Results: The group received non-profit status as a 501c3 corporation, recruited noteworthy board members, funding and sponsorship. The key group members were “very happy” with my consulting and “respected” my guidance.
